Question by KristyW: How to keep crickets from growing up?
I have a couple of small herps (a frog and a gecko) and I want to feed them crickets, but every time I buy them by the time I get around to feeding them all, they’ve molted and become too large for my animals. I rotate between the crickets and small mealworms and a few waxworms every now and then. I buy 50 crickets at a time (all I have available is prepackaged crickets in 50-count “lunch boxes”) and feed every other day, so for instance, they get 3 to 5 crickets every 4 days… by the time I’m around to the third feeding, they’re almost too large for the animals to eat. How can I stop the crickets from growing so darn fast?!
